The Client
Our client is a successful international organisation, with a diverse portfolio of activities including operations, maintenance, asset management and project services. Growth through project progression has resulted in a requirement for a Bid Estimator to join the Project Team.

The Role
Working collaboratively within a team environment, your role will be to plan and co-ordinate estimating and related functions to maintain technical standards and maximise success in tendering, and prepare cost estimates by analysing proposals and requirements.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:
  • Review and analyse tender documents and prepare tender approval forms if required by Bid Leader
  • Extensive liaison with internal Operations Departments and provide estimating and tender process expertise into each tender proposal.
  • Prepare quantity surveys, scheduling, labour cost calculations and cost estimates for in house services
  • Prepare tender enquiry documents to provide to subcontractors
  • Supplier / subcontractor engagement activities from sourcing and identifying suppliers / subcontractors, evaluating and negotiating with subcontractors / suppliers and making recommendations in conjunction with the Commercial Manager
  • Evaluate subcontract prices and validate subcontract quotations
  • Assist Operations Departments in the preparation of specialist unit rates and specialist capital upgrade estimates

The Candidate
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:
  • Previous experience working on major bids / tenders for equipment, materials, services (value > $200K)
  • Strong estimation skills and the ability to decipher relevant facts, data and technical documentation.
  • Ability to reverse engineer multi-dimensional problems or processes into easily understood concepts or component parts
  • Solid analytical, problem solving skills and business acumen to prepare bids
  • Strong end to end understanding of and relationship between business development activities, commercial contracts and operations and commercial outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to liaise and negotiate with senior level stakeholders (both internal and external)
